For the fourth time, the RecycleMich initiative demonstrated at the Vienna City Marathon how correct recycling of empty PET bottles, drinking cans and other lightweight packaging works. Attractive prizes were raffled off among all hard-working users.

Valuable educational work on correct recycling

At its stand in the Coca-Cola Village, the RecycleMich initiative once again focused on greater sustainability in our society and provided valuable educational work on the recycling of PET bottles and other lightweight packaging. The dedicated team from Austria’s first recycling app never tired of giving all interested visitors valuable tips on how to recycle properly.

Fabio Andrea Cella, Country Manager at Coca-Cola Austria, also made sure to stop by the RecycleMich stand in person to express his support for the joint initiative.

“It is only through the commitment of our partners that we can raise awareness of the RecycleMich initiative. Coca-Cola Austria, our partner from the very beginning, has made it possible for us to have a stand at the Vienna City Marathon for the 4th time. In the middle of the Coke Village, we can show how important the correct recycling of plastic and metal packaging in the yellow bin or yellow bag is. We motivate consumers to also become a part of Austria’s circular economy and inform and explain why packaging must be disposed of correctly,” says Ines Kilnhofer, Head of Marketing for the RecycleMich initiative, delighted with the successful weekend.

Coca-Cola provides comprehensive information on current sustainability issues

Coca-Cola Austria once again provided comprehensive information on current sustainability issues and packaging innovations in the Coca-Cola Village this year. “The invitation to all visitors to join us in ‘going reusable’ does not only apply to our reusable glass portfolio. We must also set a good example together when it comes to collecting and recycling PET bottles and aluminum cans. Initiatives such as RecycleMich are an important companion for us and help us to keep recyclable materials such as PET in the cycle and as recycled PET in the bottle,” explains Philipp Bodzenta, company spokesman for Coca-Cola Austria.

New app features impress users

The RecycleMich team received particularly good feedback on the new app features: Immediately after scanning the barcode, the app displays separation guidelines that shows how the packaging should be correctly separated and recycled – depending on the region and collection options in Austria. If your favorite packaging is not yet participating in the program, it can be registered quickly and easily. After a successful internal check by the team of experts, the new packaging also counts towards the next prize draws. Attractive prizes from competition partners such as Lidl or Sky Austria worth up to 330 euros are raffled off on a weekly and monthly basis.
