The RecycleMe initiative, held in conjunction with the Vienna City Marathon, demonstrated for the fourth time how to correctly recycle empty PET bottles, beverage cans and other lightweight packaging. Attractive prizes were raffled off among all the diligent users.

Valuable educational work on correct recycling

At its stand in the Coca-Cola Village, the RecycleMich initiative once again focused on greater sustainability in our society and provided valuable educational work on the recycling of PET bottles and other lightweight packaging. The dedicated team of Austria’s first recycling app never tired of giving all interested visitors valuable tips on how to recycle correctly.

Fabio Andrea Cella, Country Manager at Coca-Cola Austria, also took the opportunity to visit the RecycleMich stand in person, thus expressing his support for the joint initiative.

‘It is only through the commitment of our partners that we can raise awareness of the RecycleMich initiative. Coca-Cola Austria, our partner from the very beginning, has enabled us to have a stand at the Vienna City Marathon for the fourth time. In the middle of the Coke Village, we can show how important it is to recycle plastic and metal packaging in the yellow bin or yellow bag correctly. We motivate consumers to also become a part of Austria’s circular economy and inform and explain why packaging must be disposed of correctly,’ says Ines Kilnhofer, Head of Marketing at the RecycleMich initiative, pleased with the successful weekend.

Coca-Cola provides comprehensive information on current sustainability topics

Coca-Cola Austria once again provided comprehensive information on current sustainability topics and packaging innovations in the Coca-Cola Village this year. ‘The invitation to all visitors to join us in “going the extra mile” is not limited to our reusable glass portfolio. We also have to set a good example together when it comes to collecting and recycling PET bottles and aluminium cans. Initiatives like RecycleMich are an important companion for us and help to keep recyclable materials like PET in the cycle and as recycled PET in the bottle,’ explains Philipp Bodzenta, company spokesman for Coca-Cola Austria.

New app features impress users

The RecycleMich team received particularly good feedback on the new app features: immediately after scanning the barcode, the app displays separation information showing how the packaging should be properly separated and recycled, depending on the region and collection option in Austria. If your favourite packaging is not yet part of the programme, it can be registered quickly and easily. After a successful internal review by the team of experts, the new packaging will also count towards the next competitions. Attractive weekly and monthly prizes worth up to €330 are raffled off by competition partners such as Lidl and Sky Austria.
