Design for Recycling

On 1 September 2019, the minimum standard for assessing the recyclability of packaging was published for the first time by the Stiftung Zentrale Stelle Verpackungsregister (ZSVR). Since then, it has been an important tool for assessing the recyclability of packaging. The content of the German minimum standard is revised annually. Based on the work of a group of experts in consultation with the Federal Environment Agency, the ZSVR has prepared the draft for the 2024 edition. The consultation process started on 4 June 2024 and there was an opportunity to submit written comments until 12 July 2024.

It remains to be seen which of the changes mentioned will finally be implemented. All manufacturers of packaging subject to system participation are affected by the changes.
