From 1 January 2025, a decisive implementation will come into force in Austria: single-use beverage packaging will then be subject to a mandatory deposit. A deposit of 25 cents will be charged on plastic bottles and metal cans, which consumers will receive back when the packaging is recycled. This change is an important measure to further increase recycling rates and effectively promote the closing of material cycles.
