A decisive change will come into force in Austria on January 1, 2025: single-use beverage packaging will be subject to a deposit. The deposit of 25 cents will be charged on PET bottles and aluminum cans, which consumers will receive back when recycling the packaging. This change is an important measure to further increase recycling rates and effectively promote the closing of material cycles.
